Framing

We pride ourselves on our ability to bring a fresh look to a tired picture, and on being able to solve most - if not all - problems! Our mouldings have been carefully chosen from all the major suppliers, and we also have a range of profiles made to our own designs or specifications. These can be made in a variety of timbers, and we will also make mouldings for your own exclusive use if required. We can design something to pick up a feature within a picture, or match a prolie in the room where the picture is to hang.

Plain wood mouldings can be finished with wood stain and polished; they can be painted; they can be veneered; or they can be gilded using 23.5 carat leaf. There are also other types of gold, but for further details about these please enquire within. Swept frames can be made and gilded; and damaged frames can be restored. Frames that are the wrong size can be altered to fit, whether too large or too small.

We use only acid-free mountboard which is either museum or conservation quality and, when circumstances dictate, we can fit acid-free backs. We can supply conservation glass - which cuts down ultra-violet in both artificial and natural light - or museum glass. This is also a barrier against ultra-violet, with the added attraction of cutting down reflections.

Mounts can be decorated: with line-and-wash, gold leaf or lines; they can be covered with silk, veneer or exotic papers; and they can be extra-thick. We are happy to handle needlework and embroidery, including lacing - if needed - onto acid-free board.
